Dark Souls 2 on PS3 “Experiencing” Difficulties with Online Matchmaking

So far, Dark Souls 2 has been made available in North America, either through retail stores or the PlayStation Store (according to the SEN website, it’s a 5.1GB download). Unfortunately for those people who have bought the game already, Namco Bandai has confirmed that there are some issues with online matchmaking right now:

Dark Souls 2 for PS3 is currently experiencing occasional difficulty with some online matching features. Namco Bandai Games is currently working with FromSoftware to address all difficulties and will provide an update shortly.

Thank you for your understanding.

A fix should be on the way shortly, with the Dark Souls 2 server being “switched off for a short maintenance” during these times on Wednesday/Thursday:

  • March 12th 11:00pm – March 13th 2:00am PDT
  • March 13th 2:00am – 5:00am EDT
  • March 13th 8:00am – 11:00pm GMT
  • March 13th 3:00pm – 6:00pm JST

Dark Souls 2 launches in the UK on Friday, so the maintenance should all be completed by the time the game launches there.

Namco Bandai didn’t say what patch 1.01 for Dark Souls 2 included.
