Sucker Punch Talks About Cole MacGrath & inFamous: Second Son

WARNING:

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HASN’T FINISHED inFAMOUS 2

Considering how inFamous: Second Son follows the ‘good’ ending of inFamous 2, a decision Sucker Punch came to after looking at trophy data, it means that previous series star Cole MacGrath is dead. Despite a short tease at the end of inFamous 2 showing Cole getting hit by lightning, Brand Development Director Ken Schramm told Push Square that he won’t be resurrected:

He’s dead, man. We’re not into reincarnation, or sci-fi, or anything like that. This is a realistic game, and we’re trying to make everything as real as possible. That’s so that when we throw the powers on top, you’ll believe in them, too.

Although we’re going to have to wait until Second Son fully releases before learning about all the other powers Delsin can control, Schramm did drop a hint about how all the powers have to draw from the environment:

“Delsin is Mega Man, so he’s absorbing powers from other enemies. Let’s just say that those conduits aren’t going to give him those powers.”

“If you’re trying to guess, look at it in this sense: it has to draw from the environment. If you can’t draw it from the environment, it’s not going to be a power in our game.”

Schramm also revealed the reasoning behind not having tons of music from Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and other well-known artists in Second Son: “It gets expensive, and we’ve got to be choosy.”

If you want to know more about the inFamous universe, be sure to pre-order Second Son to get the Cole’s Legacy DLC free, which will help bridge the gap between inFamous 2 and inFamous: Second Son.
