Sony Clarifies: The Last of Us Remastered’s Release Date “is Not June 13th”

There was a bit of confusion and chaos earlier today, as GAME in Barnsley, England tweeted that The Last of Us Remastered “hits PS4 next week.” After people got excited for a potential E3 release date announcement on the game, the GAME Barnsley Twitter account deleted that tweet and issued this correction notice on Twitter:

Apologizes everyone about #TheLastOfUs Release Date! #MissPrint #OverEagerStaffMember We will update you when we get an official date sorry!

Following all this, Sony contacted IGN to give their official statement on the matter, which confirms The Last of Us Remastered won’t be out on June 13th (which is 1 year after The Last of Us launched on PS3):

As we’ve announced, The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 will release this summer. An official release date, though, has not yet been announced for the game. The release date is not June 13th. We will keep you posted on an official release date.

With E3 6 days away, it’s totally possible we’ll hear The Last of Us Remastered’s release date then, so stay tuned.
