PlayStation LifeStyle PlayList: September 6 & 7, 2014 – Building Blocks Edition

September 5, 2014Written by Chandler Wood

Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition came swirling in from out of nowhere, releasing on Thursday and causing some PSN problems while it was at it. Now that everything seems to be resolved, we’ve got at least a few staff members that plan on spending some time with these digital LEGOs. There’s also the breakneck speeds of Velocity 2X that have grabbed some of the staff’s attention.

Here’s what everyone is playing this weekend:

Alex Co (@excaliburps)

I’ll most likely be playing more Diablo III and sprinkle in some Battlefield 4 while I’m at it. This in preparation for me losing all my gaming time to Destiny this coming Tuesday! And dare I say it? The big 2014 gaming deluge is almost upon us and it’s scaring me.

Cameron Teague

A great helping of Natural Doctrine and getting very close to a Plat trophy in inFAMOUS First Light. Other than that, probably some more PVZ: Garden Warfare and PlayStation All-Stars, which my Vita gave me for free and I got bored.

Chandler Wood (@FinchStrife)

D’yani has a review on the PS4, so I’ll be spending a lot of time with my Vita, possibly working towards the Danganronpa 2 platinum or a little bit more of Joe Danger (review coming soon!). When I am not doing that, I will be staring longingly at the case for Destinypining for the moment that the servers go live at 6 AM Monday morning. Be sure to check back as I’ll be streaming it all day when I play.

D’yani Wood (@Dyani)

Sims 4 for breakfast, Sims 4 for lunch, Sims 4 for dinner, Sims 4 for snack time… nothing else exists but Sims 4. And yet somehow I’ll find the time to review Minecraft PS4 Edition too…

Dan Oravasaari (@FoolsJoker)

plan on working on my Photoshop skills a bit more, and hopefully fixing my sleep schedule. If I need to unwind a bit, I will probably grind out some matches of PvZ, so I can keep unlocking the item packs.

Jason Dunning (@Jasonad21)

In preparation of Destiny next week, I’ll be playing ‘Download the Latest PS4 Firmware.’ Aside from that, I’m only about 30 levels through Velocity 2X on PlayStation Vita, so I’ll keep making my way through to level 50. Then once that’s done, I’ll try a Platinum run, before ultimately giving up because my thumbs and eyes start bleeding.

This being opening weekend in the NFL, and with the 49ers playing at Dallas, I got to have a BBQ on Sunday to (hopefully) watch my Cowboys dominate the 49ers. Me living in Northern California means that I may be alone in cheering for my guys even at my own party. Have to play some Madden before and after the game.

Mark Labbe

I think I’ll be playing Minecraft PS4 all weekend! Maybe a little bit of Metro: Redux, too.

Paulmichael Contreras

Might get back into Diablo III, but I still also need to check out Velocity 2X. I’m also going to try to convince my wife that I need to buy Minecraft when I already have it on my laptop. It’s not a want, it’s an imperative!

Considering I played Minecraft PS4 Edition until about 2 am last night, I’m guessing there will be some more of that. Throw in some football on Saturday, maybe check out the new Call of Duty Ghosts map pack that dropped yesterday, and some yearning for Destiny.

Zarmena Khan (@Zarmena)

I’m playing Need for Speed: Rivals on the PS4. A little late to the party, but it’s a solid game. As I’ve said before, it’s also a much-needed break from all the non-stop shooting and slaying that I’ve been doing in every game I’ve played since LittleBigPlanet 2!

Did you pick up Minecraft on your PS4? Are you longing for the weekend to be over just for Destiny to finally be here? Let us know what you are playing!
