Free-to-Play Title AirMech Arena Launches on PS4 and Xbox One in Spring 2015

A free-to-play real-time action strategy game, Ubisoft is bringing Carbon Games’ AirMech Arena to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Spring 2015. Already available on Xbox 360, you can check out that version’s launch trailer from last year above.

Taking control of powerful transforming weapons known as AirMechs, AirMech Arena sees you protecting your base and overtaking enemy fortresses. Collecting up to nine AirMechs with unique abilites, you can command them to deploy defense units from the air or to transform into ground mode and engage armies on the front line.

As the AirMechs gain experience, you earn kudos, the in-game currency. Kudos can then be used to unlock upgrades, new units and pilots, and customization options like skins and effects.

The description adds:

AirMech Arena allows players to complete quests and earn rewards in solo games, or partner with up to four friends for cooperative play online. Competitors can test their skills in ranked matches, or spar for practice in unranked mode. Teamwork is vital to succeed in multiplayer as allies must manage resources and defend their bases while simultaneously attempting to capture their opponent’s territory. The game also supports a spectator mode, which gives gamers the opportunity to view each other’s matches and see the top competitive players in action.

Ubisoft specifically pointed out that the Xbox One version requires Xbox Live Gold, so it appears the PS4 version won’t require PlayStation Plus.

Will you give AirMech Arena a download when it launches this Spring?
