October 2015 NPD Software: Uncharted Debuts in 9th, Rock Band 4 Outranks Guitar Hero Live

NPD analyst Liam Callahan revealed how close things were between Rock Band and Guitar Hero:

October 2015 saw the return of two key music genre franchises: Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Rock Band 4 ranked 10th and Guitar Hero Live ranked 11th based on units sold. However, the ranking changes to fourth and sixth, respectively, when ranking on dollars.

We’re still waiting for full details on the October 2015 NPD report, but the best-selling games of the month have been revealed, with Halo 5: Guardians topping the chart. 

There are some surprises in the rest of the top ten, with September release NBA 2K16 in 2nd, followed by Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in 3rd. Then, in 9th is Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, followed by Rock Band 4, which managed to outsell Guitar Hero Live.

Here’s the top 10 selling games for October 2015 (October 4 through October 31), which totals retail sales across all systems and includes Collectors Editions, GOTY Editions, and bundles, but not those bundled with hardware (sales by platform are ranked in brackets from highest-selling to least-selling):
