“What PS2 Games Would You Like to See on Your PS4?” Asks Sony XDev Europe

With Sony’s recent confirmation that they are working on bringing PlayStation 2 games to PlayStation 4 by utilizing PS2 emulation technology, Sony XDev Europe (who worked on Until Dawn, Heavy Rain, and more) went on Twitter to ask, “So what PS2 games would you like to see on your PS4?”

PlayStation UK, meanwhile, asked the same question, adding, “SSX Tricky and TimeSplitters 2 get our vote in the office.”

Wired, who first reported the news, asked Sony how the PS2 emulation would work on PS4, if you’d be able to buy the games from the PlayStation Store, and if you’d be able to insert a PS2 disc into your PS4, but Sony declined to comment further on their plans.

Sony’s confirmation of PS2 emulation on PS4 came shortly after Eurogamer analyzed the recent Star Wars PS2 games running on PS4 (see video above for a comparison), saying, “The emulator is clearly running these games more smoothly, with Jedi Starfighter hitting 60fps while the game running on PS2 hardware has nothing like that level of output.”

Eurogamer adds that the Star Wars PS2 games on PS4 (set to be released individually through the PS Store at a later date) map the select and start buttons to the left and right sides of the DualShock 4’s touchpad, there’s an emulation system in place for handling PS2 memory cards (just like on PS3), the PS2 logo appears when booting up each game, and all in-game button prompts still reference the PS2 controller.

So, what PS2 games do you want to play on PS4?
