Uncharted 4 Will Have a “Few” Dialogue Options as a “Nod to Fans”

When Naughty Dog showed off its new Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End trailer at Sony’s PlayStation Experience 2015 keynote, the newly unveiled dialogue options caught everyone’s attention. But don’t expect a ton of them throughout the game as the developer has said that they will only appear in “a few spots” within the game. Speaking to Kinda Funny Games’ Greg Miller, Creative Director Neil Druckmann explained:

There’s a few spots in the game where we felt a dialogue option would give us something interesting. So with Sam talking to Nate about his previous adventures, we were like, ‘Oh, this is kind of a cool nod to the fans.’ So where would Nate start the story, which one? Let’s give the player the option and they can start the story however they want.

Druckmann went on to talk about ending Nathan Drake’s story once again, stating that it was “time to wrap it up.”

These characters are real to us. When we’re writing for them you can hear their voices in your head. It’s actually quite easy to get in there. But it felt like it’s time to wrap it up. Nathan Drake is letting us know, ‘tell the final story.’ And we felt we came up with something that looks at the three previous games as the start of an arc, and this is the finish.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is coming to the PlayStation 4 on March 18, 2016.
