Dev Allays Fears That LEGO Marvel’s Avengers Will Be Downgraded on Vita

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will mark the first time that an open world title has been ported to a handheld console without compromise, according to Game Director Steve Thornton.

Thornton is overseeing both the 3DS and PlayStation Vita versions of the imminent action-adventure title, itself incubating in the works over at Traveller’s Tales and TT Fusion, and he recently published a blog post detailing how the hub city of Manhattan was ported to the systems “with no breaks, cuts or loading screens.”

I’m incredibly pleased to announce that for the first time ever, we have a full free-roaming open world hub city on handheld; a full 1:1 scale rendition of the console Manhattan city hub is playable on both Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, with no breaks, cuts or loading screens.

Further in the update, there’s also mention of 15 handheld exclusive “hub challenges” that will feature across the Vita and 3DS versions of the licensed title, which include a whole host of comic book favourites such as Daredevil, Dr Strange and Moon Knight.

Also slated for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is set to launch on January 26.
