Electronic Arts Withdraws Trademark Application for “Ghost” Following Ubisoft’s Opposition

Back in January, Ubisoft had filed a notice of opposition with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) against EA attempting to trademark “Ghost,” which the company thought would end up causing confusion with its Ghost Recon series. A NeoGAF user has now spotted documents dated February 24, which show that EA has abandoned at least one of the filings under the computer game software category.

A notice of express abandonment without prejudice can be found on USPTO’s website, stating that the application was withdrawn “with opposer’s consent.”

Since EA had apparently filed the trademark for Ghost Games, it’s unclear whether the studio’s name will be impacted or not.
