Report Suggests Blizzard is Recruiting for New First-Person Game

Two job listings spotted on Blizzard’s US careers site suggest the mega-publisher is actively recruiting for an “unannounced project that utilizes a robust first-person engine.”

First spotted by GameSpot, the openings are for two Lead Software Engineers, both of whom must have experience working on first-person games. Blizzard’s listing stops short of revealing exact details for the mysterious new project, only that’ll be built around a first-person viewpoint. Up until now, Overwatch is the publisher’s only first-person title, hinting that these openings could be in relation to a sequel or even an expansion for the über-popular shooter. Other series in the Blizzard portfolio include World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone.

What’s interesting is that previous Blizzard job listings have revealed that the company is beginning to ramp up pre-production on the next Diablo game, though it’s safe to assume this first-person project is unrelated to the Diablo universe. We’ll be keeping tabs on this one as it develops.
