Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Is Longer Than Left Behind, Releases in 2017

A standalone game releasing through retail stores and the PlayStation Store in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is Naughty Dog’s “biggest story expansion to-date.” In a PlayStation Experience panel featuring Naughty Dog’s Shaun Escayg, Josh Scherr, and Kurt Margenau, it was revealed when The Lost Legacy takes place.

“It’s definitely after Uncharted 4,” Escayg said. Asked how it compares to The Last of Us: Left Behind, Escayg added, “It was started as a DLC, but we… needed longer time for the story to develop… I would say now it’s a story expansion.”

Margenau then jumped in and said, “It’s a standalone experience. Longer than Left Behind, shorter than Uncharted 4… it’ll fall somewhere in there.” Scherr added, “It’s a beefy standalone game.”

The reveal trailer for The Lost Legacy is from the beginning of the game, with Nadine and Chloe searching for a clue, and Margenau adds that it’s “not the only setting for the game. We have contrasting settings later – we don’t want to spoil too much about locations – but there is definitely all the hallmarks of an Uncharted game in this.”

Scherr continued, “You’re going to have all of your classic climbing, running, jumping, shooting, death-defying escapes that you’ve come to escape from the series. Except this time you’re gonna get to be doing this as Chloe with Nadine at your side, and seeing the cool relationship develop between the two of them.”

You can also expect The Lost Legacy to be tonally different to the Uncharted main games, Chloe will move differently than Nathan and a lot of the mechanics have been changed for her, she has a different fighting style that isn’t as brawly as Nathan, and the entire game is set in India.

If you bought the Uncharted 4 Digital Deluxe Edition or the Explorer’s PackThe Lost Legacy will be a free download at launch. However, both will only be available until December 13.
