Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Is Now the #1 Console Game of 2016 at Retail in the US, Activision Reveals

After it was revealed by the NPD that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game in November in the United States, Activision has announced that Infinite Warfare is now the #1 console video game in the US, “based on year-to-date revenues from physical unit sales.”

On top of this, Activision says Infinite Warfare was the #1 selling console title for the month of November, based on revenue from physical unit sales. As a whole, the Call of Duty series is the #1 console video game franchise in North America for the 8th consecutive, once again based on year-to-date revenue from physical unit sales.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said:

Call of Duty is retail’s #1 grossing console franchise in the U.S. for the 8th consecutive year and the boldly innovative Infinite Warfare is the #1 grossing console game of the year at retail in the U.S. In addition to our annual blockbuster release, Call of Duty is about engaging fans year around. Black Ops 3 has had amazing engagement all year and now with the classic, boots on the ground gameplay of Modern Warfare Remastered, and the thrilling new experiences of Infinite Warfare, we have a great experience for every Call of Duty fan this holiday.

As of September 2016, The Division was the #1 selling game in the US and Europe.

If you’ve yet to buy Infinite Warfare, there’s a Free Trial Event happening until December 20. The game itself is also on sale this week as part of the Holiday Sale.
