Xbox Owners Will Soon Be Able to Gift Games

One of the most requested PlayStation 4 features is coming to…Xbox. Xbox Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra told a fan on Twitter that the ability to gift new games to a friend are “not far” off. That means that Xbox owners will soon be able to gift games and add-on content to their friends directly, instead of purchasing download codes or points for them. This has been a signature feature of Steam, and console owners have been asking for such a feature ever since the current generation of consoles launched.

Check out the tweet for yourself below:

Sadly, attempts to tweet at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida about getting the feature added hasn’t been nearly as successful.

Hopefully Sony is hard at work on the feature and they’ll have an announcement to make soon, as this is a major feature that Microsoft is set to release. Steam gifting has been incredibly popular with consumers, and it’s always nice to be able to spread the power of gaming. After all, who wouldn’t love logging onto their PlayStation 4 and getting a surprise message that they now own a digital copy of Knack?

Would you like to see the PlayStation Store get updated to support gifting games? Are you disappointed that Sony hasn’t implemented the feature yet? Let us know in the comments below what you think about the situation.
