Atlus USA has announced that it’s launching a new online store on Monday, October 16, at 8.00 AM PT.
The launch follows feedback from fans who’ve been wanting to purchase Anime Expo merchandise regardless of their attendance at the events. Atlus has said that “most” of its lineup will now be available via the online store provided that it isn’t exclusive to the event.
There are a few caveats, however. Since it’s a new territory for Atlus, the company has said that the store will operate on a “pre-order only” basis in the beginning, with shipments going out in late November/early December. Here’s an explanation from Atlus licensing team’s Mike Quijano:
We’re still manufacturing everything for our first run, but we’re doing everything we can to get stuff out by the holiday season; that way, Jack Frost can fulfill all of your holiday wishes. If you ever see something marked as “Sold Out” or “No longer available,” please note, it WILL be back. We want to make sure everyone can buy the items they want. That is our goal to our fans and a guiding principle for this store. Finally, I want everyone to know that we’re learning while we go. This website is as much a new experience for us as it is our fans. As we learn what our fans want and need, we will grow the website in that direction. It is a work in progress, with more features and many more products coming soon, so keep checking back.
Atlus also has plans to cater to its fans outside USA once the store is up and running. For now, you can visit http://store.atlus.com when it’s live.
