Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2 Come Are the Two Highest Selling Games in North America

It’s no surprise that the Call of Duty and Destiny franchises are two of the most known in the gaming world. Today, Activision confirmed that by revealing that both Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2 are the two top selling consoles games in North America based on revenue. Not only did the two outsell any other game, but Call of Duty: WWII has already topped more than $1 billion in global sales.

According to the company in a release regarding the news, Call of Duty: WWII has topped $1 billion in sell-through worldwide in just over a month, and also continues the streak of Call of Duty has set as being the #1 top selling console game franchise in North America for nine consecutive years. Destiny 2, on the other hand, secured its spot as the #2 highest selling game in North America, no doubt leaving Activision very happy.

“Call of Duty: WWII is the #1 top grossing console game of the year in North America, and Destiny 2 is #2,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “That means Call of Duty has been the #1 top grossing console gaming franchise in North America for a staggering nine years in a row, and worldwide eight out of the last nine years. Thank you to our players for your incredible passion and engagement. And thank you to our talented, committed teams all across the globe that make incredible results like this happen.”

Call of Duty: WWII has already been noted as being the biggest console digital launch for Activision in its history, while Destiny 2 has already outsold its predecessor based on units. No matter how many exact copies have been sold, it’s obvious that fans still love Call of Duty and Destiny, despite the community outcry on certain aspects of the game.
