Piranha Games and Sold Out have announced that they are bringing MechWarrior back to PlayStation after more than 20 years. Set in the fictional universe of BattleTech, the series hasn’t seen a full-fledged release on a Sony platform since 1995’s MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat on the original PlayStation.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will release on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on September 23rd along with the Heroes of the Inner Sphere downloadable content. The PS5 version will support adaptive triggers and haptics.
An overview of the plot is as follows:
Welcome to the year 3015! It’s a hell of a time to be alive.
Humanity has colonized thousands of star systems spanning a vast region of space known as the Inner Sphere. The golden age of cooperation and advancement is now a distant memory, and humanity has once again splintered into disparate factions all vying for supremacy.
