The latest PlayStation State of Play is about to kick off, featuring about 20 minutes of news and reveals for third-party games. Excited fans have been making their wishlists for what they hope is included, and Sony itself has even teased a few things.

While Sony didn’t explicitly say that the October 2021 State of Play wouldn’t feature first-party or hardware announcements, it was certainly implied by calling attention to the fact that this is a State of Play focusing on third-party games. So don’t expect information on the next PlayStation VR, PS5 hardware updates, or anything about Sony services or partnerships, like the upcoming Discord integration. However, one of the biggest things many are hoping to see is Final Fantasy XVI, which was last seen last year. We know development on the highly anticipated title is coming along nicely, we just don’t know for certain when we’ll see it next.

Sony did specifically let us know that we’ll see an update on Devil In Me, so that’s at least one confirmed game in this month’s State of Play broadcast.

As with most State of Play broadcasts, the October 2021 PlayStation State of Play airs at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern and will run about 20 minutes. You can watch it on the PlayStation Twitch or YouTube channels. We’ve also embedded the stream for you below.

If each trailer is an average of two to three minutes, that means the State of Play broadcast could showcase anywhere from seven to ten games. Fans are hoping to see updates on a number of titles we haven’t seen in a while, like Final Fantasy XVI and perhaps even Hogwarts Legacy. Of course, what would a State of Play broadcast be without a few new things to show off as well? And if you miss it live, we’ll be covering the full stream with all the news you need to know and a full roundup of announcements. You’ll also be able to watch the on-demand video once the stream is complete too.
