FromSoftware Working on Elden Ring PS5 Save Data Issue

Elden Ring received a day-one patch to fix a number of issues including frame rate drops, but an annoying save data problem currently plagues the game’s PlayStation 5 version. The good news is, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment have acknowledged the issue, and narrowed it down to the console being turned off unexpectedly while playing or when in rest mode.

How to avoid Elden Ring PS5 save data issue

According to Bandai Namco, players shouldn’t experience the aforementioned issue if they properly quit the game via the system menu. “We are aware of the cause of this issue and are working on a patch to correct it, but until the patch is released, please save your game manually by exiting the game regularly,” the publisher wrote. “We are also working on a few other bug fixes and performance improvements as needed.”

Elden Ring’s PS5 issues are minute in comparison to its PC performance. On Steam, the game is currently being bombarded with negative reviews due to widespread stuttering and frame rate drops. “We are currently experiencing some issues that are preventing the game from playing properly under some conditions,” Bandai Namco said in a statement today. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your patience.”

Elden Ring received universal critical acclaim, becoming of the best-reviewed games in recent years on Metacritic. On OpenCritic, it’s tied with Super Mario Odyssey as the best-reviewed game ever. No game is without its issues, though, and FromSoftware is diligently working to resolve them. We’ll update our readers when a patch is rolled out so stay tuned.
