Call of Duty: Warzone Player Progress and Inventories Won’t Carry Over to Warzone 2

Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone player progress and inventories won’t carry over to Warzone 2 (or 2.0, as the publisher puts it). Warzone 2 will be detailed in due course but in the meantime, rest assured that the original Warzone will continue to exist as a separate experience so if you want to hang on to your progress and inventories, then you’ll be able to do so provided you continue playing the current version.

While Activision has yet to fully detail Warzone 2, the publisher did briefly explain why it’s chosen to make Warzone 2 a separate experience. The gist of it is that the new version will run on new technology and will be a complete overhaul of the current systems, features, and gameplay. As a result, Warzone 2 will be a whole new experience that warrants starting over.

A statement by Activision reads:

A wholly new Warzone will launch as an extension of the Modern Warfare II universe. With it comes new technology, new features, and new gameplay that work seamlessly together. Throughout, we have taken a wide range of community feedback to heart. In order to fully deliver this state-of-the-art experience, Warzone 2.0 will feature new Modern Warfare II content and systems with brand-new progression and inventories. Today’s Warzone will continue as a separate experience that will include a continuation of player progression and inventories within that Warzone experience.

Warzone 2’s development is being led by Infinity Ward in collaboration with Raven Software, and it’ll run on the same tech and engine as Modern Warfare 2.

In other news, it looks like Sony has messed up its compensation for PS Plus players in Asia who were charged the wrong upgrade fee, and Modern Warfare 2 open beta is headed to PlayStation first.
