The Witcher Remake

The Witcher Remake Revealed, Powered by Unreal Engine 5

It’s an exciting day for The Witcher fans, as The Witcher Remake has been officially revealed by CD Projekt RED. While it was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that really put the franchise on the map, two games preceded it which told the earlier stories of Geralt and his companions. Now modern-day audiences will get to experience the original game “rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.”

The Witcher Remake officially confirmed by CD Projekt RED

Posting on its blog, CD Projekt RED confirmed that The Witcher Remake is being worked on. As for where it’s at in the development process, the blog post states that the game is “currently in the early stages of development at the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, where veteran Witcher series staff are involved.”

While there had been rumblings about a game with the codename “Canis Majoris,” it was unclear whether this referred to a game set after The Witcher 3 or some kind of spin-off. Now it’s been confirmed that Canis Majoris referred to The Witcher Remake.

Though a lot of Witcher fans are sure to be happy with this news, it’s unlikely that we’ll see the Netflix show writers celebrating, if the reports are accurate.

Recently, CD Projekt RED attempted to reassure those worried about performance issues following Cyberpunk 2077. It promised that all The Witcher and Cyberpunk games will be tested across all platforms in the future.
