PS5 Players Surprised With 60 FPS Update for Hit PS4 Shooter

PS5 users can now play one of the best PS4 shooters in 60 frames-per-second, thanks to a surprise update that rolled out yesterday. Far Cry 4 was updated specifically for the PS5 — the latest in a growing list of Ubisoft games that the publisher is patching with 60 FPS support retroactively.

Far Cry 4’s free PS5 update 1.08 is out now in all regions

Far Cry 4 update 1.08 is available globally now, and its patch notes make no mention of any other changes or bug fixes. That’ll be a relief to some after Ubisoft rolled out an update earlier this month that “accidentally” censored Far Cry 4.

For those unaware, Far Cry 4 has a topless female character at the Shanath Arena, who was patched with clothes in an April 3 update. Ubisoft reversed the change following player backlash, revealing that the censored character was meant to be added to Far Cry 4’s Japanese version only.

“This resulted in unintended changes [worldwide], including censored models and assets,” Ubisoft told upset fans. The character’s breasts have since been restored. Phew!

Prior to Far Cry 4, Ubisoft patched Far Cry 3/Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal with 60 FPS support alongside Watch Dogs and older Assassin’s Creed games.
