Several PS4 games have received enhancements during the PS5 life cycle. The most recent PS4 game to get updated for PlayStation’s current generation console is the beloved Ubisoft third-person shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division.
The Division gets PS5 60 FPS update nearly a decade after launch
In a tweet from the official The Division X (formally Twitter) account, they announced that the first The Division game is now available on PS5 with enhanced performance. This means the shooter will now run at 60 frames per second (FPS), allowing for a much smoother gameplay experience.
It should be noted that this is not a PS5 port or upgrade for The Division. This is simply an update that PS5 players can download to enhance their experience.
For those interested in finally checking out The Division, here is a trailer and brief description of the game:
“Tom Clancy’s The Division is a revolutionary next-gen experience that brings the RPG into a modern military setting for the first time. In the wake of a devastating pandemic that sweeps through New York City, basic services fail one by one, and without access to food or water the city descends into chaos. As an agent of The Division, you’ll specialize, modify, and level up your gear, weapons, and skills to take back New York on your own terms.”
When The Division was originally released for the PS4 back in 2016, it was met with solid review scores. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 80 across 63 critic reviews. In our review, we gave it a 9 out of 10.
“The Division is something special that’s never really been done before in games, and while I don’t expect perfection from such a bold experiment, I’m impressed with what they have been able to pull off so far,” reads our review. “We’re just one week post-pandemic. Imagine what’s in store for us going forward. “
