The PS Store has dropped not one but two free demos for a highly anticipated Nihon Falcom PS5 and PS4 RPG. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon will release worldwide soon, but players can get a glimpse of the story and combat in two separate demos right now.

The story and battle demos are now live on the PS Store around the globe and available on both the PS5 and PS4. The former allows players to experience the beginning of the game, whereas the latter tasks players with fighting through three levels of the Grim Garten dungeon as Van’s team, Rean’s team, and Kevin’s team.
Progress from the story demo carries over to the full game. The battle demo is only designed to introduce combat mechanics.
Although PS Plus is not required to play the demos, Premium subscribers can cloud stream both of them.
Trails Beyond the Horizon is already available in Japan/Asia. Its worldwide release is scheduled for January 15, 2026. Alongside PS5 and PS4, the game will be available on Nintendo Switch / Switch 2, and PC. An Xbox release has not been announced.
“In the year 120X, everything comes to an end. C. Epstein, the father of the orbal revolution, prophesized the end of the Zemurian continent,” a synopsis reads. “As ‘X Day’ approaches, a massive orbal rocket is about to be launched from a large military base built in the Kunlun Range. Can man make it past the planet’s atmosphere? What lies at the end of the continent? Will mankind be able to uncover the true nature of the ‘world?’
