Last Chance to Grab These Great PS Plus Games for Free

PS Plus users are reminded that they have one more day to claim five fantastic free games that were offered in December 2025, if they haven’t already. Sony surprised Essential members last month with a chunky lineup that expires tomorrow, January 6.

PS Plus reverts to 3 monthly free games after December 2025’s one-off gift

December’s lineup includes Lego Horizon Adventures (PS5), Killing Floor 3 (PS5), The Outlast Trials (PS5, PS4), Synduality Echo of Ada (PS5), and Neon White (PS5, PS4). On Tuesday, January 6, these games will be replaced by a rather lackluster monthly lineup headlined by Need for Speed Unbound.

We’re not sure why Sony felt generous in December, but don’t get used to it. We initially assumed that the company offered five games ahead of anticipated changes to PS Plus that would see PS5-only games prioritized going forward. However, two of the three games in January 2026’s Essential lineup are also available on the PS4.

That said, we still advise PS4 users to opt for an Extra membership if they really need PS Plus and don’t plan to upgrade to PS5, as Extra offers more value than Essential.
