2024 PS5 RPG Shutting Down In 2027, Delisted From PS Store

The MMORPG New World: Aeternum has been delisted from the PlayStation Store today, January 15, 2025. Developer and publisher Amazon Game Studios announced that servers will be taken offline in 2027.

When will New World: Aeternum shut down?

New World: Aeternum’s servers will shut down on January 31, 2027, giving players who purchased the game one more year to play the MMORPG. Following that date, players will no longer be able to access the game on any platform, including PS5. The game’s Nighthaven season will be extended until this date, as it is its last season.

Players can still purchase in-game currency, like Marks of Fortune, and other items until July 20, 2026. Refunds will not be available for Marks of Fortune purchases. Players who recently bought the game and want a refund are advised to check with their platform’s customer support.

The developer also confirmed there will not be any more new content or server fixes. However, they will continue to monitor bugs and performance.

Here is what Amazon Game Studios had to say in a statement:

“We want to thank the players for your dedication and passion. We are grateful for the time spent crafting the world of Aeternum with you. Together we built something special. While we are saddened to say goodbye, we’re honored that we were able to share so much with the community.

“It has been our pleasure to work on New World: Aeternum and evolve this unforgettable adventure with you all. We look forward to one more year together, and giving this fantastic adventure a sendoff worthy of a legendary hero. From the bottom of all our hearts, thank you for sharing this world with us.”

Amazon Game Studios had originally announced that it would be ending support for New World: Aeternum in October 2025, but did not have a specific shut down date.

“Players of Aeternum: Your dedication and enthusiasm have made this New World adventure an unforgettable journey,” Amazon Game Studios said in the initial announcement. “We’re deeply grateful for every moment you’ve spent helping build this extraordinary world alongside us. It has been an honor to share Aeternum with you, thank you for helping make this game something truly special.”
