The PlayStation Store is home to many PS5 demos for upcoming games. From beloved franchises like Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, to smaller titles like Dark Auction, there are many demos for PS5 players to check out before they decide to commit to purchasing any of these games. That includes this upcoming highly anticipated PS2 remake.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake PS5 demo announced
Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja announced that a free PS5 demo for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake will release on March 5. For players who end up liking what they play, the save data will be carried over to the full game. The new overview trailer that revealed the demo gives players a good look at the upcoming remake, as well as details regarding the different versions of the game.
“In Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, twin sisters wander into an abandoned village infested with vengeful spirits, and use the Camera Obscura, a device that can capture and seal away the impossible, as their only weapon,” reads the game’s description. “This complete remake of the second title in the Fatal Frame franchise introduces new gameplay elements, including a brand-new ending featuring the song “Utsushie”, composed by Tsuki Amano, along with new side stories and new locations to explore.”
Also announced, Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake will receive free DLC based on the lauded 2025 survival horror game Silent Hill f. More details regarding the collaboration DLC will be announced “in the coming weeks.”
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake will launch for PS5 on March 16 for $49.99. There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition available for $69.99 that includes a Digital Art Book, Digital Soundtrack, and several cosmetics. Regardless of the version, players who preorder will get a slew of bonuses.
