PS5 Getting Promising New Adventure Game Soon

Although the PlayStation is most known for its AAA titles like The Last of Us and God of War, it is also home to some interesting indie games like Baby Steps and Cairn. That includes this upcoming new PS5 adventure game by a one-man indie game developer that looks very promising.

What is Project Songbird?

Project Songbird is developed by FYRE Games, the Pittsburgh-based indie studio of solo developer Connor Rush, known for Summerland and We Never Left. Inspired by Alan Wake, Silent Hill, and The Stanley Parable, the upcoming four to five-hour experience is a first-person, cinematic narrative adventure horror game set in the Appalachian forest. Here is a trailer and description that gives gamers the rundown of its story and vibes:

Project Songbird - Release Date Trailer | PS5 Games

“Set deep beneath the isolating canopy of the Appalachian forest, Project Songbird is a grippingly, surreal and psychological tale which explores the dark side of the creative process. Players will take on the role of Dakota, a struggling career musician who, while suffering from writer’s block, heads to a remote log cabin to record their new album. As they search amongst the pines for a spark of creativity, they soon discover something more lurks in the darkness — and that not all inspirations are positive.”

Project Songbird features the voices of Valerie Rose Lohman (What Remains of Edith Finch, Wolfenstein: Youngblood), Jonah Scott (Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Date Everything), and Aleks Le (Persona 3: Reloaded, Marvel Rivals, Ghost of Yotei). It will also feature a “beautifully dynamic and haunting” score composed and performed by Auric Echoes’ Jacob Noska and Jonah Henthorne.

Project Songbird will launch for PS5 on March 26. For PlayStation players who also own a gaming PC, a free demo is available to play on Steam and itch.io.

Another PS5 horror-adjacent adventure game, Dark Auction, has just released for Sony’s console and is available to purchase now on the PS Store.
