A popular sports game originally launched in 2024, which was a PlayStation Plus Essential free game, is shutting down its servers in the very near future, making all of its online components unplayable. For those who did not get it through Sony’s online gaming subscription service, it will be delisted tomorrow, on January 31.
What PS Plus game is getting its servers shut down?
Developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K, WWE 2K24 is shutting down its servers on March 31. This means all online features and services will cease, which includes MyFaction and any other mode that requires an online connection. However, the game will still be playable in offline modes, which include Play Now, Showcase, MyRise, MyGM, and Universe.
Additionally, WWE 2K24 is being delisted on January 31. This does not mean the game will be unplayable. It just means PS4 and PS5 players will not be able to purchase the game on the PS Store. This includes PS Plus subscribers who received the game through the service. The game will still be downloadable from the player’s library.
These delistings and server shutdowns are pretty normal for sports titles like WWE 2K24. In fact, it has already been announced that WWE 2K25, which is the latest iteration of the professional wrestling simulator, will shut down its PlayStation servers on March 31, 2027.
When WWE 2K24 was released in 2024, it actually received solid review scores. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 81 based on 63 critic reviews.
WWE 2K24 isn’t the only PS4 or PS5 game being delisted from the PS Store in January. The Amuzo Games and Tower Studios arcade soccer game, Sociable Soccer 25, has been delisted from the digital storefront recently. Earlier this month, Amazon Game Studios’ MMORPG New World: Aeternum was delisted, with servers shutting down next year.
