What new PS5 exclusive is getting rave reviews?
Nioh 3, Team Ninja’s latest entry in the hit action series Nioh, is out today on PlayStation 5. The game is currently getting massive praise as well. On OpenCritic, the review aggregating platform, the game currently sits at an 87, with 95% of critics recommending the new entry in the series.
Eurogamer’s Dom Peppiatt, who scored the game a 4 out of 5, praised the innovation to the game, saying “Nioh 3 iterates on the formula once more to take an already great ‘masocore’ series to new heights.”
Game Rant’s Josh Cotts, who gave the game a 9 out of 10, had similar praise, noting that the game “pushes movement and player freedom further than any entry before it.”
VG247 gave the game a 4 out of 5 as well, and called it “the confident result of shaking up Nioh’s near decade-old formula that’s only outshone by Team Ninja’s steady hand in crafting it.”
PlayStation Lifestyle’s own Tyler Treese also loved the game. In his 9 out of 10 review, he noted that “Nioh 3 is the best game yet in the franchise. Featuring varied combat and rewarding players for exploring its open fields, Team Ninja has created a unique and fulfilling action role-playing game. Whether you’re a newcomer to the series or have played the prior two games, there’s a blast to be had either alone or with friends in this stellar PS5 game.”
Nioh 3 is an action role-playing game that serves as the third installment in Team Ninja’s Nioh series. The game takes place following the events of the previous two and sees players control Tokugawa Takechiyo, the grandchild of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Much like the previous two games, Nioh 3 will see players battling against yokai and other supernatural beings.
The first two Nioh games were big hits for Team Ninja. The latest game, Nioh 2, released in 2020 and serves as a prequel to the original game. As of last year, the Nioh series as a whole has sold over 8 million units worldwide.
