PS5 First-Person Shooter Sequel Game Gets Promising Reviews

A brand new first-person shooter sequel is set to release this week. Ahead of its launch, promising reviews have begun pouring in.

What PS5 first-person shooter sequel has earned promising reviews?

High on Life 2, the sequel to 2022’s High on Life from developer Squanch Games, is out on February 13, 2026. The game’s reviews, so far, are also fairly positive. On the review aggregation platform OpenCritic, the game debuted to a score pf 79, with 79% of critics also recommending the game. Many praise the game’s chaotic narrative as a major step up from the original game.

Saving Content’s Scott Ellison II praised the game as a “superior” entry from the original, and said that it “manages to introduce new ideas never before seen in other games. Comedy is very subjective, but I think the humor in this game is right up your alley if you enjoy the likes of Tim Robinson. High On Life 2 is more High On Life, but in a more polished, focused, and refined space adventure where it’s crass humor is befitting the universe it exists in.”

IGN Spain’s Rafa Del Río had similar sentiments, noting that the game “offers a narrative shooter that mixes elements of all kinds to create a unique and highly satisfying product. The frenetic combat on skateboards, the hilarious dialogue, and the thousand crazy situations we’ll experience make this sequel a great game that hooks you and works well for all kinds of shooter genre lovers. A 90s-style space opera that you’ll love to have in your game library.”

Gameliner’s Patrick Meurs was also positive of the game, calling it “bigger, louder and completely unhinged – it’s the perfect sequel.” CGMagazine’s Marcus Kenneth, on the flipside, was a more lukewarm on the game, noting the game’s “biggest issue outside of technical issues, is that the new additions to the game feel so counter intuitive and work against what made the first game such a cult hit.”
