Sony quietly rolled out a new PS5 feature update that brings a new animated theme for the Welcome Hub. The gorgeous background celebrates the launch of The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, an open-world action RPG that released for free on the PS Store earlier this week.
PS5 feature update adds new animated theme alongside showcase mode
The theme, which should be available in all regions now, can be accessed by going to the Welcome Hub > Backgrounds > Games. Since it’s newly added, it should be the first theme that you see.
The background depicts The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin’s cover art, with doves seen flying close to the castle and cloud particles moving across the screen.
This animated theme comes at a great time, as PS5’s most recent system software update finally added the Welcome Hub’s showcase mode for everyone. Enabling the mode via the Welcome Hub settings allows the console to display your background in full, hiding all the widgets that cover it.
The showcase feature is activated when idle, and players can choose idle time when enabling the mode. Alternatively, pressing L3 on the DualSense controller manually makes the PS5 enter showcase mode.
