We are three months into 2026, and the PlayStation Store has been filled with some great new PS4 and PS5 games to kick off another solid year of gaming. From Game of the Year contenders to long-awaited returns, there seems to be something for everyone. That includes South of Midnight, a stylish action-adventure game that is finally making its way to the PS5.
What is South of Midnight?
Originally developed by Compulsion Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, South of Midnight is an action-adventure game that brings southern folklore in an incredibly stylish package. Players will take on the role of Hazel, as she tries to save her mother, and become acquainted with her newfound Weaver powers.

“As Hazel, you will explore the mythos and encounter creatures of Southern folklore in a macabre and fantastical world. When disaster strikes her hometown, Hazel is called to become a Weaver: a magical mender of broken bonds and spirits. Imbued with these new abilities, Hazel will confront and subdue dangerous creatures, untangle the webs of her own family’s shared past and – if she’s lucky – find her way to a place that feels like home.”

When South of Midgnight was originally released last year for Xbox consoles, it received decent reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 77 based on 91 critic reviews. It also won the Games for Impact award at The Game Awards 2025, and Outstanding Achievement in Animation at the 29th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.
