PlayStation has announced the start of a new program that allows fans to step into some of the company’s biggest games.
What is PlayStation’s new program?
The new program, called The Playerbase, is “a unique opportunity for PlayStation’s biggest fans to step into some of the biggest game worlds by having their likeness scanned and appear within a PlayStation game,” according to the company in a recent post to the PS Blog. The program will start with Gran Turismo 7 and expand to additional PlayStation Studios titles in the future.
The program will begin in available select markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia. Players looking to join the program can submit an official application on the program’s site. In order to submit an application, players will have to share a message as to how PlayStation has “impacted your life.”
According to PlayStation’s The Playerbase FAQ, winners will be selected based on multiple rounds of judging. Should you be selected, a second round of interviewing will occur in which winners will be interviewed about their love of PlayStation, gaming, and more. A winner will be chosen sometime in the summer and will appear in Gran Turismo 7 sometime later this year, with a custom Fantasy Logo and one-of-a-kind vehicle livery.
“The Playerbase is our way of saying thank you to the players who make PlayStation what it is today. We can’t wait to meet the fans who will step into the world of PlayStation in a whole new way,” wrote Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President, Global Marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment.
