Major 2021 PS5 Game Loses Multiplayer Feature, Trophies Safe

2021’s best-selling PS5 and PS4 game has retired a multiplayer feature, but in a rare move, its developer has changed its trophy requirement. It’s pretty common for players to be locked out of trophies once studios shut down online features, but in Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s case, Sledgehammer Games made sure that players could still unlock the trophy associated with the game’s retired Clans feature.

PS5, PS4 game Call of Duty: Vanguard drops multiplayer clans feature, here’s how you can get the trophy

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Clans feature was originally shut down a year ago without a warning, locking players out of Platinum as the “Hello There” trophy required joining a clan. Shortly afterwards, the feature returned, only to be pulled again. But this time, Sledgehammer Games changed the “Hello There” trophy/achievement requirement.

Now, all players have to do is start the campaign to unlock the trophy.

Here are Vanguard’s latest patch notes from the update deployed on April 7, 2026:

  • Cross-play is now enabled between the console and the PC version of Call of Duty: Vanguard on Steam.
  • The Vanguard Clans feature has been retired. The “Hello There” achievement has been changed to now unlock upon starting the Campaign.

Those who were locked out of Platinum due to this trophy can grab the prize now. Newcomers need not worry about it at all.
