Starfield PS5 crashes and refunds

Starfield PS5 Refunds Being Issued to Some Users Due to Crashes

Something has gone wrong with the retail PS5 copy of Starfield, with widespread reports of the game crashing frequently on both the base console and PS5 Pro. The crashes are so frequent that Starfield has become almost unplayable for some players, prompting them to apply for a refund from the PS Store.

More and more PS5 players demanding PS Store refunds as reports of widespread Starfield crashes continue to grow

PlayStation LifeStyle received a review code for Starfield, and our reviewer, Tyler Treese, has confirmed that he didn’t experience the aforementioned issues on the provided version (1.000.002). Other outlets have made similar comments.

However, Digital Foundry has confirmed the crashing issues on both the PS5 and PS5 Pro, but no one really knows what’s causing them.

Over the weekend, a ResetEra user shared a screenshot of their PS5’s error history, and it looks pretty bad. We’ve seen similar screenshots and complaints in dozens of Reddit threads and comments.

Players are now contacting Sony for a refund. While some users have managed to get their money back without issue, others haven’t had any success. Some have chosen to escalate their complaints and have yet to receive a final decision from Sony.

In the meantime, players are exploring workarounds.
