A budget GTA action adventure game is headed to the PS5 before GTA VI launches. Developed by Liquid Swords, a studio founded by Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg, Samson is a noir game that might also appeal to Max Payne fans as long as they don’t go in expecting the world.
Action adventure game Samson gets September 2026 PS5 release date window
Samson released on PC earlier this month, where it was panned by players and critics alike. Players argue that the IP has promise and some genuinely good ideas held back by poor design choices and technical issues.
Speaking to The Game Business, Sundberg acknowledged the bugs and glitches, revealing that Liquid Swords is working daily to improve the game. “The reception is starting to become more positive,” he added.
Sundberg admitted that due to financial constraints, Liquid Swords had to release Samson in the state that it was in. The good news for console players is that by the time Samson releases on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in September 2026, all the kinks will have been ironed out.
“Players take on the role of Samson McCray, a man fighting to stay ahead of a crushing debt that tightens by the hour,” an official overview reads. “Violence, desperation, and quick judgment are the only tools he has left as Tyndalston pushes back at every turn.”
