May has been a busy month for PlayStation 5 gamers. From emotional story-driven adventures to long-awaited horror thrillers, there are plenty of games for players to check out. This includes R-Type Dimensions III, a classic shooter that retro game fans may remember.
What is R-Type Dimensions III?
Developed by KRITZELKRATZ 3000, and published by ININ and Tozai Games, Inc., R-Type Dimensions III is a classic shooter out today for the PS5. It is actually a remake of the Super Nintendo game R-Type III: The Third Lightning, which was originally released in 1993.
Here is a trailer and description for R-Type Dimensions III, giving PlayStation players a glimpse of what to expect from the classic shooter:
“In the distant future, humanity faces its greatest threat: the Bydo Empire, a horrifying bio-mechanical life-form capable of corrupting and absorbing anything it touches. Although humans once created the Bydo as a weapon, the experiment spiraled out of control. Now the Bydo exist beyond normal space and continually attempt to invade human reality.
“After multiple wars and near-extinction events, the Bydo return once again—stronger, more adaptive, and far more aggressive. To counter this new invasion, the Earth Space Corps develops a cutting-edge fighter: the R-90 Ragnarok, a next-generation R-Type craft.”
There are some fun features in R-Type Dimensions III, especially for fans of the original. This includes the ability to switch between original and remastered graphics and music, local co-op, customizable controls, infinite mode, 3D Camera settings, and other quality-of-life features.
R-Type Dimensions III is available to purchase for the PS5 on the PS Store right now. It costs $34.99.
