A classic PS2 action game is coming to the PS5. Ace Combat Zero, a fan-favorite entry in the iconic series, is available as part of the new game.
Ace Combat Zero available to players on the PS5 via pre-order
During Sony’s State of Play this week, Bandai Namco revealed Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, a brand new entry in the long-running franchise. The new game releases on October 2, 2026, but Bandai Namco also revealed a surprise for fans.
Pre-orders for any digital copy of the game, including the standard or deluxe edition, will receive 2006’s Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, as well. The 2006 title will be a PS5 ported version of the game, meaning that it’s been touched up a little to play a bit better on modern consoles.
It’s unclear if the ported version of the game will be made available anywhere else after Ace Combat 8’s launch, so fans wanting to pick up the game should do pre-order before the game’s release. Originally released in 2006, Ace Combat Zero is a fan-favorite entry in the series, and tells the origin story of the entire Ace Combat universe.
The game is also famous for debuting the Ace Style gauge system, a mechanic that shapes how missions go based on players decisions in a mission.
Alongside Ace Combat Zero, those who pre-order Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will also receive a F-14A skin for use in the new game. The digital deluxe version of the game also includes three days of early access, on top of some digital bonuses like a Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher, customizable cosmetics, and others.
