A new report suggests that one of the PS5‘s biggest games will be coming out sooner than we thought.
PS5 exclusive game God of War Laufey reportedly has a 2027 release date window
During Sony’s State of Play event, Santa Monica Studio unveiled God of War Laufey, the next entry in the God of War franchise. The first look showcased almost 20 minutes of gameplay and visuals, but didn’t reveal any release information for the big PS5 exclusive.
However, the game might be out sooner than imagined. On Bluesky, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier was talking about several Sony titles. On Laufey, he said to not read into the game not showcasing a release date, as the game is not “years away” from coming out. When someone asked if that meant Laufey could be coming in 2028, Schreier responded “definitely not.”
Given the context clues, this suggests that Laufey will actually be coming out some time in 2027. Coincidentally, this would also align with something noted insider/leaker NateTheHate said in the past. Earlier this year, the insider said that a new God of War was in development with Faye as the lead character and that it would be revealed this year and release sometime in the “first half” of 2027, barring any setbacks.
While it’s still unknown when the game will be coming out, signs are beginning to point to a quick release date. The previous God of War entry, God of War Ragnarök, released in 2022, and Santa Monica Studio was reportedly working on Laufey by then, meaning a 2027 release wouldn’t be too shocking.
