PS5 and PS5 Pro system software update

PS5 System Update for June 2026 Is Out But Not What You Expect

Sony rolled out PS5 system software update 26.04-13.40.00 for June 2026 early this morning. Unfortunately, the new firmware doesn’t bring the changes we were hoping for, but prepare to download around 1 GB of data on your PS5 and PS5 Pro.

PS5 system software update 26.04-13.40.00 patch notes (June 4, 2026)

“We’ve improved system software performance and stability,” the official patch notes read. This is standard language for minor changes and/or security patches that Sony doesn’t want to advertise.

Oddly, there’s no sign of the mysterious revamped UI that was rolled out to select users two months ago.

In early April, players reported that Sony was testing a new streamlined PS5 UI. We initially assumed it was available to beta program participants, but many of the users who received the changes were not enrolled in the program.

A month later, Sony reverted the UI, leaving everyone confused.

This update doesn’t make any noteworthy changes (at least none we’ve spotted thus far), so we’re not sure what’s happening to that revamp we expected. Either Sony decided to drop it altogether, or postponed it.

Sony also made some stealth changes to the PS5 console’s PS Store page that still haven’t been rolled out to everyone.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
