A sleeper hit 2020 PlayStation 4 action RPG is getting a PS5 sequel, and surprisingly soon, its publisher has confirmed. Developed by Cold Symmetry and published by Playstack, Mortal Shell 2 will release on August 20, 2026, and it’s up for preorder on the PS Store.

Mortal Shell 2 offers two editions for preorder: a $49.99 Standard Edition and a $59.99 Devout Edition. Preordering either edition will net you the bonus Skeletal and Obsidian Harbinger skins.
Devout Edition includes 72-hour early access and an exclusive Obsidian skin set for all eight playable Shells.
Those who prefer discs can purchase a “Revered Edition” at retail, which includes the game disc enclosed in a steelbook, an art book, art prints, and download codes for the preorder bonuses inside a Collector’s Box.
“Mortal Shell 2 is a standalone sequel to Mortal Shell that significantly expands on the original with faster and unforgiving combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and an emphasis on free exploration within a compact open world,” says Cold Symmetry. “You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures.”
