Cozy PS5 RPG Is Out Today on PlayStation Store

Chinese developer Seed Sparkle Lab has released its cozy PS5 RPG on the PlayStation Store today. The game, called Starsand Island, includes several life sim mechanics such as fishing, relationship building, home building, and farming. The game was previously available in early access on PC and other consoles.

The final 1.0 release of the game adds online multiplayer, using an island host system. Players can use it to invite and join others to explore and complete quests together. However, island progress will be locked, so multiplayer sessions will need to account for it. Players can also share important building resources with others in multiplayer, so newcomers can get started fast.

What to expect from Starsand Island?

Starsand Island offers escapism with its appealing visuals and cozy aesthetics. The goal is simple: players need to unwind, relax, and enjoy a pastoral life on the island. The game includes several modes of transport for exploring every nook and cranny of the island. This includes ziplines, a retro scooter, and even boats. Players can make friends with many animals that roam the island as well.

Starsand Island’s 1.0 release also adds new relationship content and the Autumn Pumpkin Carnival, which comes with a dedicated seasonal storyline and quests. The goal of the game is to build an idyllic island, with the occasional combat encounter against strange sea creatures. It features a dynamic seasonal cycle that affects gameplay mechanics like farming routines, exploration conditions, and community activities.

Starsand Island currently has a score of 70/100 on Metacritic, with just four reviews. Critics have praised the game’s life sim systems but criticized its pre-launch bugs and lack of implementing innovative ideas in the cozy genre.

Starsand Island is available on the PlayStation Store for $39.99. The physical edition of the game will launch on November 12, 2026.
