One of 2026’s most highly anticipated RPGs, coming from former The Witcher 3 developers, will disappoint console players. The Blood of Dawnwalker, the first game from Polish developer Rebel Wolves, has been confirmed not to support 60 fps modes on the PS5 and PS5 Pro.
A new gameplay video for The Blood of Dawnwalker shows console footage and confirms it will launch with two graphics modes on consoles. The first, Quality mode, will target 30 fps with dynamic resolution maxing out at 4K. The second, Performance mode, will target 40 fps at a similar output resolution. The second mode will require PS5 owners to have a TV or monitor capable of supporting 120Hz output.
The PS5 Pro version of the game will offer “enhanced visual quality” across both modes. The video shows the same gameplay segment played on PS5 Pro, PS5, and XBOX Series X. It doesn’t include footage from the game’s performance mode on consoles.
What to expect from The Blood of Dawnwalker?
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open-world action RPG that will feel familiar to fans of The Witcher franchise. The game has players step into the shoes of Coen, a resident of 14th-century Vale Sangora, becoming a “dawnwalker,” a human-vampire hybrid. Vale Sangora is ruled by the tyrant vampire Brencis and other Vrakhir. The main campaign of the game follows Coen as he uses his newfound vampiric abilities to rescue his family, held captive by Brencis.
Like many RPGs, The Blood of Dawnwalker will feature a branching dialogue system and give players agency to shape the narrative. Like the Persona games, Dawnwalker includes a time-management mechanic with activities taking specific chunks of time to complete. Accordingly, Coen has 30 days and nights to complete his main objective, so players will need to choose their quests wisely.
The Blood of Walker will be released on September 3, 2026, on PC, PS5, and XBOX Series X|S.
