PS5, PS4 game shutting down

Hit 4-Month-Old PS5, PS4 Game Already Has a Shutdown Date

An acclaimed PS5, PS4 game that released in September 2025 has already received a server shutdown date from its publisher. NBA 2K26 launched to a positive reception just four months ago, and 2K was kind enough to give players advance notice of its planned server closure.

PS5, PS4 game NBA 2K26 shutting down in late 2027

NBA 2K26 and MyTEAM Mobile 2K26 players have until December 31, 2027 to enjoy online services. 2K didn’t say when the PS5 and PS4 version would be delisted from the PS Store, but worth noting that games are typically pulled well ahead of their scheduled shutdowns.

That said, NBA 2K26 has offline modes, so you’ll continue to have access to those and can play as long as you want. However, if you’re worried about trophy completion, then prioritize multiplayer trophies now.

We say “now” because multiplayer trophies aren’t immune to bugs and glitches that sometimes occur towards the end of a game’s lifecycle. And when that happens, publishers have little interest in fixing them. We often see these complaints with annual sports games, especially those published by EA.

NBA 2K26 doesn’t have a free demo, but PS Plus Premium members can access a full game trial at no additional cost.
