The first big PS5 console exclusive RPG of 2026 is getting a free demo very soon. Team Ninja has revealed that a Nioh 3 PS5 demo is coming in the next couple of weeks, giving PlayStation players a taste of the third entry in the critically acclaimed soulslike series.

Originally revealed at The Game Awards 2025, an X (formerly Twitter) post from the official Team Ninja account reminds players that the Nioh 3 PS5 demo will be available to download on January 29. Like most demos on the PlayStation Store, it will be free. The post also confirms that the save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game.
Here is a description and trailer for the game, giving PlayStation players a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming demo:
“The year is Genna 8 (1622). Edo Castle stands on the brink of the protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo’s imminent appointment as the next shogun. Takechiyo’s younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, consumed by hatred toward his brother’s succession, falls into darkness. Empowered by a sinister force, he leads a horde of yokai in a fierce assault against Takechiyo. The era of peace suddenly turns into hell, and in dire straits, Takechiyo transcends time through the mysterious power of his guardian spirit, Kusanagi.”
Nioh 3 launches for PS5 on February 6. The Standard Edition will cost $69.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition is $109.99. Here is everything included in the Digital Deluxe Edition:
