A PS5 remaster of an acclaimed PS1 RPG has officially been revealed. The new game will release this year, too.

PS5 RPG Tales of Eternia Remastered joins the packed fall 2026 release schedule

Bandai Namco and developer TOSE have announced that Tales of Eternia Remastered will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC on October 16, 2026, worldwide. A digital deluxe edition of the game will also be available, and include a digital art book, soundtrack, and some downloadable content.

As part of the remaster, the game will receive a ton of quality-of-life features, including destination markers, the ability to disable enemy encounters, and an “auto-mode” that you can enable during battles. Graphics and audio changes have also been made, as per usual, with the ability to toggle between modes also available should you want to check out the retro version of the game.

Tales of Eternia was originally released in 2000 in Japan, with an English version releasing in 2001 for the PlayStation. A port of the game was released in 2006 on the PlayStation Portable.

“In the remote Inferian village of Rasheans, Reid Hershel and his childhood friend Farah Oersted meet a mysterious girl named Meredy. During their journey to discover Meredy’s origins, the group discovers that a collision called the ‘Great Fall’ threatens both Inferia and Celesita,” reads the game’s official description.
