Developer S-Game will reveal more details about its upcoming PS5 action RPG Phantom Blade Zero today, Monday, August 17, 2026. Players interested in the dark wuxia title can tune into PlayStation’s official channels to learn more about the new game. Announced last week, Sony will show new gameplay from the title during a State of Play livestream with almost 20 minutes of gameplay.
In its latest PlayStation blog post, S-Game founder Liang “Soulframe” Zuo teased the upcoming State of Play. The game, as revealed in a new trailer, has Donnie Yen serve as its creative consultant. Besides that, Yen also plays the protagonist’s father, Mó Yuan. The Phantom Blade Zero gameplay deep dive State of Play will stream on August 17, 2026, at 7 pm PT/10 pm ET.

What do we know about Phantom Blade Zero’s gameplay?
Phantom Blade Zero sees players take on the role of a warrior named Soul, who is framed for his master’s death and only has 66 days left to live. The game combines Wuxia mythology and iconography with modern graphical features. It is set in the “Phantom world,” also called Wulin, which serves as the semi-open-world backdrop to the action.
Phantom Blade Zero will include over 30 weapons to master in a combat system the developers call “Kungfupunk.” It combines traditional swordplay with fast-paced martial arts set to modern rock music.
The game was first announced at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase. It is S-Game’s latest entry in what used to be known as the Rainblood franchise. The series started in 2010’s Rainblood: Town of Death, with later entries under the Phantom Blade moniker released on Android and iOS in China. The first globally released title was Phantom Blade: Executioners in 2023.
Phantom Blade Zero releases on October 29, 2026, on PC and PS5. It is available to pre-order now.
