Time Travel Feature Shown in Latest Final Fantasy XIII-2 Trailer

Square Enix has released another trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2. This trailer depicts the game’s time travel system, how it works, and how it affects the game.

In the trailer, Serah and Noel discover a Time Gate. The trailer says that players will need to find “artefacts,” which are keys to operate the Time Gates. In addition to finding artefacts themselves, Serah & Noel’s Mog companion appears to be able to find artefacts with his treasure hunting abilities. Once a Time Gate has been activated, players will see the Historia Crux system, which shows different locations at different time periods. The appearances of location environments may have changed when visiting them in different time periods. For instance, one area Serah visits is shown as having dry, rocky terrain, whereas in another time, the area is covered in snow. The trailer closes with Noel finding some enemies and having some kind of change in the terrain under his feet as the Mog clock appears and we see a glimpse of a Time Gate.
