Best Fighting Game of 2013 Award

Winner: Injustice: Gods Among Us

As 2013 hasn’t really been known for its hugely popular fighting games, compared to the previous years, it wasn’t difficult to choose to a winner. Having over 30 playable characters from all over the DC Universe, Injustice: Gods Among Us is not only a great fighting game, it showed us that multiple developers could make good use of the same comic IP as well.

Utilizing a deep fighting mechanic built by the the studio behind the acclaimed Mortal Kombat series, NetherRealm Studios, Injustice is a great balance between being accessible to new fans and containing enough content to keep diehard fans happy for some time. Containing a campaign mode that not only logically justified most of the issues of certain superheroes fighting each other, or themselves, Injustice introduced a new storyline for the comic series as well. Titled under the same moniker, the comic book series was a prequel to the events that drove one of the more captivating stories for some of our favorite heroes, intertwining them and and finally showing just how imperfect they can be.

Releasing not only with a Collector’s Edition, an Ultimate Edition, a comic book series and a toy line, Injustice: Gods Among Us is definitely a series that has made a name for itself and that is why it is 2013’s fighting game of the year.
